Alaska’s “jungle primary” system has created an environment where the first round of our statewide elections taking place is largely irrelevant.
At least in the Legislative races.
More on the Governor’s race below. Totally different scenario.
In all but a handful of the fifty (50) races for Alaska State Senate and House, every candidate will move on automatically to the General Election in November because the top four (4)…well, they move on. That’s where our Values Voter Guide will be dialed into in 2026. Stay tuned and click HERE to see previous guides we’ve offered.
Here are the five (5) races where there are more than four (4) candidates along with our recommendations.
House District 23 – Eagle River area – Jamie Allard – incumbent
House District 29 – Eastern MatSu – Garret Nelson – incumbent
House District 30 – Big Lake area – Kevin McCabe – incumbent
House District 37 – Bristol Bay and Southwest areas – Brenda Wilson
Senate District S – Southwest Alaska – Darren Deacon
As far as the candidates for Governor, CLICK HERE to view our Governor Forum we held in late May. The conservative choices showed up and there was lots of great discussions. If you attended the Forum, go to the video and share it with your friends and family. If you didn’t attend, check it out. We heard from more than one attendee that their mind was changed after the event.
If you’re still undecided, and that is a common thing right now for Alaskans thinking about the Governor race, go to James 1:5 that says “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” Whether that clarifies your decision or not, aligning ourselves with our Creator on all decisions is a good thing.

Rank choice voting, in large part, is about the fear from the Left that Republican Primaries produced too many dedicated, true conservatives for the General Election. You know, candidates who actually believe in and want to advance and protect the issues of the Republican platform.
I was told that directly by a Democrat friend and strategist who helped orchestrate the ruse in 2020. Most insiders know and admit Scott Kendall, Lisa Murkowski’s attorney, crafted the plan because they were afraid she couldn’t make it through a Primary.
RCV gave us Mary Peltola – the first Democrat in 50 years to sit as our sole U.S. Congressional seat because Sarah Palin and Nick Begich split the vote. When Republicans wised up the next cycle and Nancy Dahlstrom got out, magically, a Republican (Begich) regained the seat.
On the show today, I get to chat with my friend Bethany Marcum, who is heading up the Yes on 2 Campaign to end rank choice voting. And unlike the previous two times RCV was placed before the voters, there is gas in the campaign tank to counter the lies and tell the truth boldly.

And remember, in 2020, one of Alaska’s most famous Democrat royal family members, Mark Begich, wrote this about RCV in an editorial he co-authored with Sean Parnell…”This confusing, 25-page initiative will make drastic changes to the state’s election process – making it more difficult for Alaskans to exercise their right to vote and weakening political participation.”
After he saw how it helped Democrats, he changed his tune but his logic in 2020 remains. Let’s get rid of it and Vote Yes to end the Mess !
