AK Senate Majority Leader Charges The Hill With Grace

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.”  1 Corinthians 16:13

Shelley Hughes fights with elegance and grace. A gentle warrior.

Although soft spoken and always polite, she is a “mama bear” when it comes to her commitment to fiscal and social conservatism. That’s rare.

As Alaska Senate Majority Leader, Senator Hughes has taken the lead on multiple issues Alaska Family Council cares deeply about.

She is the lead sponsor of SJR4, a proposed Constitutional amendment that would clarify our founding document does not contain a “right to abortion” in it and is also leading the charge on a bill, SB140, legislation that would protect women athletes from having to compete against biological males.

In her position, she is juggling an enormous workload but she has a fundamental understanding and passion that cultural and social issues the Bible addresses must be brought alongside getting our fiscal house in Alaska back in order. As they say, she can walk and chew gum at the same time thank you very much.

I am honored to call Senator Hughes a friend and hope you can tune in to our conversation on “I’m Glad You Said That” today.
