“We are speaking truth into a false and dying world.
And if we don’t do it, who is going to do it?”
Bishop E.W. Jackson in a special video imploring the Body of Christ to engage in the world of politics. His wonderful words of encouragement and call to action start on 10:18 of the video. Please watch and share.
Yes ! We are asking pastors to get political.
Was Hanina the seer engaged in politics when he provided counsel to King Asa of Judah ?
2 Chronicles 16:7-9
Were Moses & Aaron engaged in politics when they told Pharaoh to let God’s people go ?
Exodus 5:1
Was Elijah engaged in politics when he confronted Ahab and Jezebel ?
1 Kings 17:1
Was John the Baptist engaged in politics when he confronted Herod ?
Matthew 14:3-4
It’s become a very predictable and tiring refrain from too many church leaders and attendees – “Christians need to stay out of politics.” This is not at all Biblical and it definitely has consequences for nations and states and communities.
As Bishop Jackson puts it in this video, we as Christians are standing between two poles. The Psalm 9:17 pole that says “The wicked shall be turned into hell and all the nations that forget God.” Satan will have his way in a culture that turns its back on the Creator of the Universe. The other pole is Psalm 33:12 that says “Blessed is the nation whose god is the Lord.”
As we see our state teeter on the edge of becoming Democrat led, think Governor JKT or Senator Peltola as realities, it’s worth noting Democrats are now, in many ways, being led by the Democrat Socialists of America (DSA). Think Mayor Mamdani in New York City. JKT’s campaign strategy team, by the way, got Mamdani elected.
And a quote I found from Michael Harrington, the principal founder of DSA, is worth chewing on. “Marx” Harrington says, “is a democrat socialist in the most profound sense of the phrase.” Karl Marx, you might remember, said religion “is the opiate of the masses” and he also said “the abolition of religion as the illusory happiness of the people is the demand for their real happiness.”
There are real life, real time, clashing worldviews vying for the attention and attachment of Alaskans. As followers of Christ, we long for our nation and state to be blessed but very few pastors are willing to stand up and engage.
But some are.
Alaska Family Action has developed and is now working with pastors across the state to take very bold steps to ensure our state does not lean toward the Marxist tendencies of the DSA. Our effort is called the Union of Christ Initiative and it is modeled after what the labor unions have known and done for years.
We are asking church leaders to implement a targeted, impactful and measurable strategy to increase the number of church attendees geting to the polls to be salt and light in this space. It is assertive and very much needed at this time.
If you are a pastor or think you know of a pastor interested in implementing or learning about our Initiative, please send an email to jim@akfamily.org and prayerfully consider helping us expand our impact to stand in the gap for what is true, good and beautiful.
And…if you are in a position to help financially, this is a labor intensive Initiative. Because this is “political activity”, gifts are not tax deductible and should be made to Alaska Family Action. CLICK HERE to do that securely now. Thanks for standing with us.
On The Governor Race
In a typical Republican Primary election, one candidate wins and people generally put aside their differences and stand with the Republican who garnered the most votes. However, this is not a typical election because we are in a rank choice system. And yes…as everything has played out, it has become painfully obvious how wrong and confusing and devious this system is.
In no uncertain terms, we need to vote YES to get rid of the mess that is rank choice voting. When Tom Begich bowed out to let Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins remain as the sole Democrat in the race, the architects of RCV made it obvious they don’t even believe in the very system of “more choices” that they advocated for when they pushed it on our State.
That being said, Alaska Family Action has determined we are not going to endorse a candidate for Alaska Governor. We will acknowledge that Bernadette Wilson received the greatest number of votes in the jungle Primary against all the other Republicans because that is factual.
At the same time, our calculus, and this was not easy, is that we now have a greater chance to prevent a Democrat socialist from becoming our next Governor if we tell Alaskans to “rank the red”. Vote for Bernadette Wilson, Dave Bronson or Treg Taylor first but make certain to rank the other two. If you do not, we are almost certain to lose.
Please know this was not an easy decision. Prayerfully, we will prevent the Governor from turning blue and we will end the RCV mess once and for all.
If my people…
