Alaska’s “jungle primary” system has created an environment where the first round of our statewide elections taking place this year on August 18th is largely irrelevant.
At least in the Legislative races.
In all but a handful of the fifty (50) races for Alaska State Senate and House, every candidate will move on automatically to the General Election in November because the top four (4)…well, they move on. That’s where our Values Voter Guide will be dialed into in 2026. Stay tuned and click HERE to see previous guides we’ve offered.
Here are the four (4) races where there are more than four (4) candidates. Each is a State House race.
District 23 – Eagle River area
District 29 – Palmer and surrounding areas
District 30 – Big Lake area
District 37 – Bristol Bay and Southwest areas
We’ll be providing recommendations for each of these races in the next few weeks. Hint…we like Jamie Allard in Eagle River and Kevin McCabe in Big Lake. Still chewing on the other two.
As far as the dozens of candidates for Governor, CLICK HERE to view our Governor Forum we held in late May. The conservative choices showed up and there was lots of great discussions. If you attended the Forum, go to the video and share it with your friends and family. If you didn’t attend, check it out. We heard from more than one attendee that their mind was changed after the event.
If you’re still undecided, and that is a common thing right now for Alaskans thinking about the Governor race, go to James 1:5 that says “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” Whether that clarifies your decision or not, aligning ourselves with our Creator on all decisions is a good thing.
Regarding the Federal races, we’ll have more on that shortly but Senator Sullivan and Representative Begich have been allies and we’ll be doing our part to let Alaskans know that.
Speaking of legislative races, today I get to sit down with my long-time friend George Rauscher, a State Senator from Sutton to talk about the gas line, prayer in Juneau, prison ministry and other issues near and dear to him.
George was one of our nominated legislators who has attended the Statesmen Academy, an annual conference we link arms with Family Policy Alliance on that trains state legislators to defend biblical values, govern with wisdom, and stand firm for life, family, and freedom in the halls of government.
Senator Rauscher has done that with distinction over the years.
Hope you can join in on our conversation.
