Happy Monday ! Here is our weekly list of five things we did last week. We actually did a lot more than this but five is a good number that has gained momentum in some circles lately.
- Joined more than 50 child advocacy organizations nationwide in signing on to a letter with the Digital Childhood Alliance urging lawmakers to help parents protect their children online by passing the commonsense App Store Accountability Act. Homer Representative Sarah Vance has also introduced legislation addressing the same issue on a state level.
- Coordinated with Alaska policy makers and pharmacy influencers to amend legislation recently introduced to expand the role of pharmacists in Alaska. Our efforts are helping to add language to the bill ensuring pharmacists cannot prescribe, administer or dispense Mifepristone, the dangerous chemical abortion pill that has recently been found to have serious side effects 22 times more regularly than what the FDA originally determined.
- Competed and submitted a grant to a private foundation to continue efforts to launch a LifeWise Academy program at Clark Middle School in Anchorage this Fall. Lifewise is a Bible study during school hours for public school students.
- Completed and submitted a grant to a private foundation to work with the Center for Biblical Worldview and the Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University to conduct Biblical Worldview Assessments in congregations throughout the state of Alaska.
- Participated with faith leaders across Alaska in coordination with the National Faith Advisory Board, recently established by the Trump Administration, to protect religious liberty.
On a personal note, Jim and Kim Minnery were blessed this past week to go to their son Duke’s graduation ceremony at Southwest Baptist University where he received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Congratulations Duke !
